2018/2019 batch are sourced from South Taranaki. This area is on the south-west coast of the North Island and the landscape is dominated by the Mount Taranaki volcano and the rainforest national park surrounding it. Following the colonial wars of the early 1800s, many parcels of land were given to soldiers for farming, however in many cases, the rugged land proved too difficult to farm and it has reverted back to scrub - perfect for manuka trees to colonize. Harvest typically runs from November-December.
Flavor: Still has a slight oily-nutty base but has a stronger, earthy flavor with warm herbal, dried heather notes, and caramel notes in the lingering aftertaste.
